Where to live for the commute

Every move around Rochester starts with the drive to work. These are the communities that sit beside each of the region’s big employers and hubs, in tiers by geography. Not drive times: those depend on the street, the route and the hour, so time the trip yourself at the hour you would make it.

How to use this

Pick the employer, read the first two tiers, then open each community’s page for the center, the water, the housing character and the highways. Time the drive at your hour before you decide between two: the difference between a close town and a moderate one is often the expressway on-ramp, not the miles. Every community’s page is on the areas map; the move itself starts at Moving to Rochester. Ask Living Rochester, at the corner of every page, weighs the same tiers against whatever else matters to you.
